2 weddings and a french visa interview

15 Aug

the past 2 weeks had been exciting. two of my favorite ladies got married.

I know. I know. they deserve separate blog posts. but I don’t think I have enough materials (read: photos). being a maid-of-honor/bridesmaid has its downfall pala. you just cant shoot away while you’re trying to navigate your long gown in three-inch heels (without catching too much attention). plus my g12 doesn’t really go well with the outfit.

ate’s wedding

anyway, the celebrations started with my sister’s wedding. I’ve been blogging about her wedding for weeks and on July 30, it finally happened.

the wedding was held in Subic. As I’ve mentioned before, the theme was english garden/english breakfast. obviously, it was scheduled very early, at 6 a.m. so, a day before pa lang, there was a great exodus to Subic. to make last-minute preparations and to make sure we meet our 6 am “deadline” the next day.

a day before the wedding, it was raining the entire afternoon. very hard, I might add. thanks to Kabayan who we all thought was just an ordinary low pressure area. boy, were we wrong

so when it was time for rehearsals, half of the entourage were absent! so ate just briefed her very helpful friends who would be part of the events committee for the next day’s festivities.

Meet the Family

31 Jul

Yesterday was ate and raymond’s wedding. One thing to describe that wedding is that it was certainly not uneventful.

But almost a week before the wedding, on 24 July 2011, we held a party for the couple with only the Mercado and Maningas families in attendance.

At first, ate planned to hold the Pamamanhikan dinner (or the Despedida de Soltero Y Soltera, if you like) in a restaurant but decided to ask our brother and sis-in-law to host it at their house instead. My brother was, of course, more than happy to help my sister and planned way way ahead of time!! that’s my kuya for you.

anyway, it was a formal dinner inspired by the wedding’s color motif (pink, yellow and lavender).

Behind the scenes

28 Jul

Last May, I flew to Singapore to be part of the “crew” for my sister’s prenuptial shoot. The shoot was done along Bras Basah Road with Josephine Sicad at the helm. as a “crew member” one of my job description was to follow them around and cheer my sister and “coach” her in smiling and posing. of course, i did a few behind the scenes shot myself!

originally, the concept was limited to a formal shoot at the Singapore National Museum. At the last minute, my sister decided to do a casual set-up.

this set was shot outside Rendezvous Hotel, the hotel we were staying at. this is not our usual accommodation in Singapore (we usually opt for the no muss no fuss budget hotels. hehehe) but i figured, based on the hotel’s photos, that they can also do the shoot there. unfortunately, when we got there, the hotel was under construction. boooo.
